Christian Campbell

Christian Campbell is a poet, essayist, and cultural critic. Campbell studied at Balliol College, University of Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar. He is the author of Running the Dusk (Peepal Tree Press, 2010), translated into Spanish as Correr el Crepúsculo (Ediciones Santiago, 2015).

The recipient of awards and fellowships from Cave Canem, the Lannan Foundation, the Arvon Foundation, the Ford Foundation, Fine Arts Work Center, and Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, he also won the Art Writing Award from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries for his work on the painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. Campbell was the 2023–24 Visiting Fellow at the American Library in Paris, and in 2026 he participated in the “Poetry Caravan” at the sixty-first International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.

An instructor in the creative writing and literature program at the University of Southern California, Campbell divides his time between New York City and Los Angeles.
